Medical Leave Act
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides certain employees with
up to 12 work weeks of unpaid, job protected leave a year and requires
group health benefits to be maintained during the leave as if employees
continued to work instead of taking leave. FMLA applies to all public
and private sector employers who employ 50 or more employees for at least
20 workweeks in the current or preceding calendar year. For additional
information on FMLA see www.dol.gov/esa/whd/fmla.
